1924 Standing Liberty Quarter
PCGS MS63
1924 proved to be the final year of raised-date quarters, and it was evident that the Mint was quite aware of the problem with dateless coins in circulation. As a stop-gap measure, the numerals of the date for 1924's obverse master die were thinner than in past years in an attempt to make them more resistant to the blurring effects of circulation. Of course, the real solution to the problem was not implemented until the following year, when the date was finally recessed to protect it from wear. Abundant mint luster penetrates the thin veil of original light amber toning. The coin retains excellent detail including a visible ear hole and sharp shield rivets. Superb eye appeal.
